My machine was supplied with four CDs. One of these CDs is referred to as the System CD; it is also numbered '1'. There are two Recovery CDs, and these are both numbered 2. One is for Windows XP, and the other is for Windows 2000. I think that you have to choose between these, although I have never touched the W2K CD.The forth CD is for the Anti-Virus utilities and will not be needed until later.
If you can, then I would recommend making backups of the CDs. Personally, I am paranoid about getting half way through an installation and finding that the CD cannot be read for some reason. Additionally, the real CDs can be stored safely.
